Interesting Uriah, I haven't been ignored by anyone I knew but I've been given that look. The 'why the hell do you look happy/good/at peace look?' It is such a lie the society tells, that non dubs are miserable when it's the other way around. Some of my friends can't figure me out. They think I've got a man hiding under my bed or I'm popping happy pills. What they don't understand is that anyone who is truly free has a lot to smile about. - V Sky

what is it i hear you shout.

"Cognitive Dissonance Revisited" or "Old Habits Die Hard" - Friendly Advice
by Utopian Reformist inmany of us were once fervent supporters and active members of the wtbs through our local congregations.
when confronted with controversial information while under the influence of the organization, many of us were instantly defensive, dismissive, skeptical and fearful.
we chose to continue believing the leadership knew better than we did and had our best interests at heart, despite any logic, or lack of reason.

Sorry, the post I quoted wasn't from Simon, don't know who said it but it's true.

Utopian you make some interesting points but I'm with Panda. I vote because I have the freedom to. I haven't transfered my faith in a crazy religion to any government. I believe that the horrific events of 9/11 justified a response, call it vengence or anything else you want but hell yes, a response by the government was totally appropriate. Maybe you missed this post but Simon mentioned that 9/11 wasn't just an attack on America, that 80 other countries lost citizens. And just because my blinders are off to the WTS doesn't mean I'm going to turn into a philosopher and sit back and question everything to death or bash what other people may feel strongly about, even if I disagree. I don't swallow everything I hear or see either. Balance is a good thing - V Sky

Interesting quotes about belief in God
by cruzanheart ini'm reading dan brown's book "angels & demons," which is kind of a prequel to "the davinci code," and i'd like to see what you all think of these quotes:.
"i did not ask if you believe what man says about god.
i asked if you believed in god.

Nina, I couldn't agree more. I'm on page 97 of Angels and Demons and I agree, with the way Brown puts it. I consider myself a spiritual person, rather than a religious one. I don't like the concept that God will kill you if you don't do X, Y and Z. No matter what a person believes there is something awe inspiring about a sunset or a mountain range. Hope you enjoy the book. - V Sky

Girls, Would You Say "No" If.....
by rocketman in.....your boyfriend proposed to you while on vacation?.
the reason i ask this is because a couple i know was away in the tropics, and he popped the question.
and yet, since they've been back (over 8 months) they've been mum on all things wedding.

If I loved him, I wouldn't care where he proposed and I'm with Nosferatu, I wouldn't be on vacation with him unless it was serious. Don't know how I would feel about a public proposal, times I've been asked have been in private. Surprise is good, shock is not! I've heard of romantic, imaginative ways people have proposed. Means he's put some thought into it. - V Sky

MY CONSULTING TRIP TO BETHEL (starting over) PART 6
by seven006 inwithin a few weeks i leased a condo on the banks of the willamette river just out side the city of portland.
as she got into her car she looked at me funny again, laughed and just shook her head.. .
i told him that if i said i was sorry, i knew that is what they wanted to hear but it was not the truth.

Bad News In CRR Land
by ColdRedRain inmy dad just got a serious stroke and he may pass on.
my dubbie relatives heard about it and all they could say is "you need jehovah right now.
" typical.

Victorian sky
CRR, I am so sorry about your dad, for what it's worth, you're in my prayers. Your dub relatives may mean well but if you still believe in God, you have him, you haven't left him, you've left a man-made organization. We're here for you on the board. Stay strong - V Sky
